Welcome to The FILES Arts Project
2017 Summer Dance Workshop!
Thank you to our participants, parents, teachers and volunteers for your generous support of The FILES Arts Project: Dance Workshop 2017. The 3-day Intensive of the Horton, Contemporary and Jazz techniques and 3 studio showings held at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) were a tremendous success! Due to your participation, we were able to offer approximately 70 enthusiastic students free dance instruction, improvisation, original dance choreography, performance opportunities and a healthy artist initiative with a board certified physical therapist. This year, a very successful addition to the curriculum was our post-performance talk-back session. Thank you for actively engaging our guests artists in topics ranging from the life of a dancer, dance training, auditions, college experiences, business of being an artist and finally the challenges and rewards of choosing a career as a dancer. Please continue to follow us on our web-site and social media as we're starting a "Highlight of the Month" page so we can stay actively engaged with everyone throughout the year. On our "Highlight" page, we'll share with you news about our collaborators as we all make strides to take our place on stage. We're grateful that everyone left the workshop more informed about The Arts, entertained, and excited about future workshops. On a special note, we're pleased to announce that Music Instruction will return to our curriculum next year. Thank you for supporting our mission as we make plans for The FILES Arts Project: Dance & Music Workshop 2018!
